Last month I volunteered to help create a WordPress site at GiveCamp Grand Rapids 2013. What’s a GiveCamp? From the GiveCamp Grand Rapids site,
GiveCamp is a weekend-long event where technology professionals – from designers, developers and database administrators to marketers and web strategists – donate their time to provide solutions for non-profit organizations.
This was my second GiveCamp; I also participated in GiveCamp Grand Rapids 2012. I enjoy helping nonprofits who don’t have the budgets for professional web design/development, learning from other technical volunteers, and honing my skills.
My team helped the Dispute Resolution Center of West Michigan create a new WordPress website. Highlights:
- attractive, responsive (mobile-friendly) design
- cleanly formatted content
- map with contact info
- photos of board and staff
- events calendar
- donation form with one-time and recurring donation options
- contact form
