What’s considered ecommerce?
If your site accepts money, we consider it ecommerce. That includes taking payments for products or services, or accepting donations. Because ecommerce sites require more care and maintenance than typical business websites, ecommerce sites are only allowed on the Gold Plan.
I have managed WordPress hosting. Won’t my host do all the things in your service?
No. Managed WordPress hosts do more than typical shared hosts, but they don’t do everything to maintain your site. For example, some hosts update WordPress core, but they don’t update plugins and themes.
Some hosts only keep 1-5 daily backups, or only back up once a week. We back up daily, and keep backups for 90 days.
Hosts may store backups on the same server as your site. If that server has any issues, then this represents a major problem for your website. Even when hosts store backups on separate servers, your data is at risk if the hosting company itself has issues. We store backups completely separate from your web host, putting the eggs in different baskets.
Some hosts scan for malware, but won’t remove it if they find it. We will (if your plan includes Malware Removal).
Our plans, in addition to comprehensive maintenance, include services that managed hosts don’t offer, such as Uptime Monitoring, Small Changes, Web Development, and SEO Audits.
Why is this an ongoing service? Can’t I just pay for work when I need it?
Maintenance plans are an ongoing service because WordPress requires ongoing maintenance. A typical WordPress site requires several software updates each month. Security issues can arise at any time. If you don’t update WordPress, plugins, and themes frequently, your site has an increased chance of being hacked. As a result, services like Backups, Uptime Monitoring, and Security Monitoring need to be done on an ongoing basis.
Do you guarantee my site won’t get hacked or go down?
Website security is influenced by many factors outside of our control, such as your web host or your network connections. Therefore, we cannot guarantee your website won’t get hacked or ever go down.
We will secure your website, reduce the risk of hacking, and monitor it for security issues. If your site is hacked, we can restore a backup. Some of our WordPress Maintenance Plan also include Malware Removal.
All of our WordPress Maintenance Plans include Uptime Monitoring. We’ll know if your site goes down, and we can help you get it back online.
I can update and back up WordPress myself. Why would I need your service?
It’s easy to click the Update button inside WordPress. What’s not easy is monitoring for bugs within updates, or fixing your site when it breaks.
We specialize in WordPress Maintenance Plans. We have a proven process for updating and addressing issues as well as taking, checking, and restoring backups.
Our plans include much more than Updates and Backups; they also include Security Monitoring and Uptime Monitoring. Some of our plans also include Malware Removal, Tech Support, Small Changes, and Web Development.
Do you update premium (paid) or custom plugins and themes?
We’ll update premium or custom plugins and themes as long as they can use the standard WordPress update functionality (i.e., they can be updated through the WordPress admin). For other premium or custom plugins and themes, we’ll work with you to keep them updated.
Will you work with any host?
We can usually work with any host that meets the WordPress requirements. If prefer to use your own server, a cloud host, or a hosting option that interferes with the WordPress update process or our tools, we may inform you that we need to charge an additional fee. Please contact us if you want to discuss this.
What if I want more time for Tech Support, Small Changes, or Web Development?
If you have a Silver Plan, consider the Gold Plan, which includes more time, as well as additional services. If you’d like more time beyond what your plan includes for Tech Support, Small Changes, or Web Development, you may purchase additional hours in blocks of 1 hour.
Do you support WordPress Multisite/Network?
Not at this time.
What’s included in the SEO Audit?
Our SEO Audit is powered by Site Auditor by Raven Tools. Site Auditor analyzes your site, finding desktop and mobile SEO issues that can hurt your ranking on Google and other search engines.
SEO Audit assigns your website a score out of 100. It also lists on-page technical site problems and optimization opportunities in order of severity. This report gives you the opportunity to focus on important items first. Some of the items checked include Page Errors, Blocked Pages, Internal Links Broken, Broken Images, Speed Performance, Mobile UX Performance, and Meta Description Missing.
Each audit report also explains why such items are important, and how to fix them. Because you’ll get an SEO Audit from us each month, you’ll see how your site is performing over time.
Do I need to sign a contract?
After the first two months, the service is month-to-month, with no long-term commitment. We’re confident you’ll love the peace of mind our WordPress Maintenance Plans provide you.
