Can you buy a used Verizon Wireless phone from a friend or from Craigslist, eBay, etc., then activate and use it on the Verizon Wireless network? I emailed Verizon Wireless, and here's the answer straight from Verizon Wireless Customer Service:

Although a wireless device may be compatible with our network, we cannot guarantee the equipment's performance, nor can we honor the manufacturer's warranty on wireless devices not purchased through Verizon Wireless or one of our authorized agents. I bought used Verizon cell from store. All I have been trying to do is set it up to just pay monthly charge on line. Can't for some reason get Verizon to let me know how to do only what I'm looking for. Thanks
